On March 20 the Sun entered fiery Aries, marking the vernal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and the beginning of the astrological year. This represents a fresh surge of energy filled with inventiveness and impulse that is meant to launch new projects.

However, there are a couple of significant astrological factors that may find this season of the Ram feeling more sluggish than usual. First, we still have loving Venus backtracking until April 17, which tends to slow the pace of social activities. Venus is also the planet of resources, so her retrograde cycle can find us scrambling to come up with the goods we need to maintain comfort. A loss of income and doubts about self-worth undermine personal economy, deflating the value of our talents and inhibiting the innovation typical of Aries.

The main factor, though, in delaying the dynamic Aries effect is the position of the sign’s assertive ruling planet Mars. This planet is the “agent” of Aries, a leading indicator to how the sign is expressing itself. It’s swimming through the emotional waters of Pisces until April 22, blunting Mars’ sharp sword with caution and sensitivity that make initiating new enterprises more difficult. Rather than blazing with the fire of fast-moving Aries, the sign’s instincts for action are tempered by a heightened concern for others’ feelings, uncertainty, and an idealism that makes it more difficult to take risks. Instead of blasting through obstacles now, we’re more likely to be tiptoeing around them to avoid the conflict that Mars normally enjoys but which becomes intolerable when it’s in gentle Pisces.

On April 22 Mars enters Aries—where it will stay until May 31—for the first time in two years, commencing a period of increased energy and activity that is excellent for taking a leap forward. Whether you start a new exercise program or seek a new job, the passion and courage to advance is strong enough to overcome almost any barrier. And if you do get stuck somewhere along the way, you should find the drive to head off in another direction. In these unsettled times it’s especially important to know when to wait and when to forge ahead. HAPPY NEW MONTH LUVIES!!!

Soooo, when I was in college, my friends and I had a little celebration, a mini-New Year's if you would, at the beginning of EVERY month(at least when school was in session). Oh how I miss that ritual! It was really dope, no matter what was going down; papers, projects, mid-terms, finals, hook-ups, break-ups, make-ups, we were all getting together ("we" meaning a good amout of School of Music students), even if just for 15 minutes(it was an all out bruhaha, but people would trickle in and out depending on what the nest day held in store for them), though a power-packed 15 minutes, to count down and ring in the New Month! We would hijack the house of whoever lived off campus, decorate - were talking balloons, confetti, streamers, the whole nine yards; cook, bake loads of desserts, crank the sound system, and have ourselves a jolly good time. Usually someone would even bust out an instrumental rendition of Auld Lang Syne. TONS OF FUN!!! Me and one of my best Gyrl's, who find herself now waaaaayyyy on the Westcoast(Do It Big T!) keep the memory alive with monthly midnite texts, but nothing could replace that time and that place! It was really a great way to break the monotony of the week 'ya know? I mean living in NYC, I never feel that need anymore, but I HIGHLY reccommend the New Month countdown and mini partaaaay to any of the Gyrls and guys currently pursuing higher education to get out of that study rut, or anyone who bascially just wants to liven things up! It really energizes your month, helping you let off the steam of the prior month, and kick off the new one with friends and a refreshed outlook, believe me...I don't know how I would've survived Undergrad w/o them???

At least I can by some Edy's Samoas ice cream to celebrate.

So it's about time! Can you BELIEVE we are already through January!?! And what a month it was...Can you say OBAMA???(But that's a tangent, into which we will further delve @ a later blog) I would like to take this time, and this blog to say "Hello World! Welcome to GYRLNYOURWORLD!" After years of blogging on myspace.com, most of which were read by friends, family, and other subscribers hip to this this GYRL's (Gorgeous Young Resourceful Lady) World, I've decided to open up to a larger audience. I simply feel I have a unique outlook on Life, and think I might be able to help/inspire/make a person or two laugh along the Way :) And now for a brief Disclaimer: This blog is NOT dedicated to ANYTHING WHAT-SO-EVER. However, it will, with time, do it's darndest to grow to be any and everything it can be, and will probably touch on some of my very favorite things; Relationships - I mean isn't that what Life is all about anyway when you get down to it???; Spirituality/Metaphysics/Astrology; Music; and NYC NiteLyfe!...and maybe, if my stomach can handle it, a little Politricks ; but all things really.
